St. Luke’s 2021-2022 Faculty-Staff Awards and Retirees

As the 2021-2022 school year came to a close, St. Luke’s faculty and staff gathered to recognize their outstanding peers who went above and beyond this school year. The gratitude and excitement could be felt in the air during the awards presentation in the Forese Family Fireplace Commons.
This year’s awards include:
The Tracy B. Duncan Innovation Award: Elaine Juran, Fifth Grade English Teacher Presented to an innovative St. Luke’s community member who has had a significant impact on the student experience and the development of a culture of innovation at St. Luke’s.
Dr. Joseph Kidd Excellence in Teaching Award: Jennifer Sproule, Upper School English Teacher Given to a full-time teacher who exemplifies the ideals of St. Luke’s through excellence in the classroom, service to the entire school community, and dedication to the well-being and growth of St. Luke’s students.
Mark C. Davis Award (formerly known as the Crusader of the Year Award): Kari Olsen, Director of Counseling & Well-Being Given to a full-time faculty or staff member whose contribution to St. Luke’s far exceeds expectations, thereby enriching the life and effectiveness of the school.
Ed Scovner Excellence in Middle School Teaching Award: Jean Myles, Middle School Librarian Given to a Middle School teacher who inspires students to fulfill their potential, demonstrates a deep commitment to and affection for students, and possesses a distinctive style and approach to teaching.
Head of Middle School Amber Berry presented this award during the Eighth-Grade Promotion Ceremony on June 8.
Retiring from St. Luke’s: Upper School Math Teacher Jeff Kress and Director of Admission & Financial Aid Ginny Bachman
During the awards ceremony, St. Luke’s said farewell to two longtime members of the St. Luke’s community who are retiring.
Jeff Kress has served the St. Luke’s community for 44 years, while Ginny Bachman has been on the Hilltop for 14. Their dedication to the students and families, connection to the community, and all-around presence at SLS will be greatly missed. Prior to the award ceremony, the retirees had a special dinner with Head of School Mark Davis, where they were each presented with a gift of appreciation.
