Fathers & Friends Gather on the Hilltop

S.A.
On Saturday, May 11, St. Luke's held its annual Fathers & Friends Breakfast. The event offers our students' fathers, grandfathers, and other fatherly friends and caregivers a chance to gather for fellowship, breakfast, and meaningful conversation. Every year, a special guest is interviewed at the event.

This year, we were honored to have Director of Enrollment Management Jason Giffen lead a thought-provoking discussion entitled “Leadership in Service: Applying Private Sector Expertise to Public Service—When It Works & When It Doesn't.” Joining him was our esteemed guest, Daniel O'Keefe, SLS parent, Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, and former partner at Apax, a global private equity firm. O’Keefe’s wealth of experience and insights added a unique perspective to our event.

Giffen and O’Keefe explored the intricacies of applying private sector expertise to public service. From successful endeavors to cautionary tales, they shed light on the complexities of merging business strategies with public government initiatives.

The Fathers & Friends Breakfast was only the beginning of a full day spent with the SLS community. Following the breakfast, attendees and other SLS community members had an opportunity to catch the Middle School play “The Story Store.” Then, they donned their best attire and met at the New Canaan Library for the enchanting Storybook Soiree Spring Gathering that evening.
